Port Tasting with the Fladgate Partnership

Date & Time:  Monday, March 8, Time 7-9pm
Details:          Please note that this will be a relatively formal lecture & discussion style
event that will last all 2 hours. Please do not sign up if you cannot attend the
entire event. The GSB Wine Circle welcomes Adrian Bridge, CEO of the
Fladgate Partnership, to lead us in a tasting of 8 different Ports. The tasting
will feature the wines from Croft, Fonseca and Taylor-Fladgate. It will be a
complete walkthrough of the different styles of Port illustrating its diversity,
including a cocktail made with Croft Pink, the first Rose Porto. This
promises to be a very thrilling and informative evening.

Tahoe Tastings: Ice Wines and Gluhwein

Details:          Wine Circle and the Ski Club are teaming up to offer a contrasting 'fire and
ice' tasting. We will begin with a couple of Ice Wines, which should provide
an interesting comparison for those at the recent Sauternes event. We will
then move on to a three way Gluhwein tasting, featuring traditional English
mulled wine, Gluhwein and Glogg (Swedish mulled wine).

Around the World in 80 Sips

Details:          The Wine Circle is happy to welcome back Alyssa Rapp, CEO,
Entrepreneur and GSB Alum. Sample the best wines and cheeses from
around the world, sans jet lag, layovers and lost luggage. This event will
feature wines from Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, Israel, South Africa, and
more. Alyssa will share her experiences as an international wine hound and
local entrepreneur.  The first 30 attendees will receive a copy of her book,
courtesy of the Wine Circle.

Bain & Co Wine Circle Event: Duckhorn Wines

Details:           Annie Hazlehurst and Stephen Klein are hosting a wine tasting and would                                   like to invite you to join us.  We considered several varietals, countries,                                       and other dimensions to help us put together a cohesive “theme” for the                                      tasting, but after deliberation, decided to go themeless.

Judgment of Paris II

Details:          French and Americans love each other, except when the topic is wine.
For this event, we will have our version of the "1976 Judgment of Paris",
where 11 judges blind-tested Californian against French wines. Like in
1976, we will ask you – as judges – to choose between 2 pairs of
Cabernet Sauvignon (California against Bordeaux) and between 2 pairs of
Chardonnay (California against Burgundy). In 1976 and for the first time in
history, Californian wines were better rated. But 33 years after, who
produces the best wine? Que le meilleur gagne!

on her U.S. business school tour to share with us the fine,

Demystifying Port

Details:          If you were a port wine, which type would you be?
Are you big, brash, and bold?  Or are you more complex
and nuanced?  Do your friends describe you as maybe a little nutty?

Shannon Miller as they guide you through a port tasting that will include
vintage, late bottle vintage, ruby and tawny ports, as well as some paired
treats to bring out the unique flavors of each.

of your Wine Circle Leaders, will be visiting the GSB
